My Amazon Wish List

I am putting together an amazon order and I thought it might be kind of fun to share what’s on my wish list at the moment and (more fun for all of us!) ask y’all what you are reading / would like to read at the moment.  I’m in need of some good recommendations!

Here’s what I’m hoping to order in the next few weeks …

The Abingdon Worship Annual

I had never heard of this worship resource before I bought the 2013 edition last year and am SO glad that I found it!  It is lectionary-based, but also put together based on the calendar year.  Most of the liturgies are fairly traditional, but they also have contemporary options available at the end of each section as well.  This is usually where I start when I am planning worship.

Feasting on the Word Worship Companion

Feasting on the Word: Worship Companion (Year A, Volume 1)

Do y’all use the Feasting on the Word commentary series?  I started growing my collection as soon as I was ordained.  I ended up with a complete set when I bought all of year C last year and rejoiced that I would not longer have that to expense.

And then they started coming out with Worship Companions. Time to start another collection!  I have both volumes for Year C and am going to order them as they are released.  Year A, Volume 1 has not been released yet, but I think it will be shipped starting in September.

Emerging Worship

Emerging Worship: Creating Worship Gatherings for New Generations

The Director of Music Ministries that I worked with last Sunday at Bethany recommended this book to me.  I really do love emerging worship – I hate the limitations that come with the labels “traditional” and “contemporary” and think that worship should really be crafted to help people find meaning (not to fit into a category).  By designing altarscapes and introducing secular music into worship, we are already experiencing a taste of emerging worship at RCC.  I hope that we will continue to grow in this ministry!

Surprised By Hope

Surprised By Hope: Rethinking Heaven, the Resurrection, and the Mission of the Church

Raise your hand if you love N.T. Wright!

::raises hand frantically::

This book was recommended to me by a nearby colleague.  Any book with the word “rethinking” in the title always has me intrigued.

So Long Insecurity, Teen Edition

I gave a really positive review of “So Long, Insecurity: you’ve been a bad friend to us” and I am looking forward to seeing what Beth Moore has in store for the teen girls in my life. 🙂

Any books on your wish list at the moment?  I need recommendations!
