As I mentioned in this post (did I mention I got to RIDE IN A HELICOPTER?!), we had an awesome Homeless Awareness Weekend this year! We had 108 youth participants (34 were from RCC) and raised over $13,000 (over $6,000 was from RCC). The kids (and chaperones) slept in cardboard boxes on Friday and Saturday night – there was a worship service on Friday night, they panhandled and worked in soup kitchens during the day on Saturday and listened to a speaker at the field on Saturday night.
HAW started seven years ago at RCC and has grown to involve so many churches in the community. It really is a community effort! We were able to branch out and reach new churches this year and hope to have more of them on the actual field with us next year!
If you are interested in getting something like this going at your church, send me an email and I will get you in touch with the right people!
Here are some photos from the weekend … mostly of the set-up. As always, there are a ton more on our RCC Facebook page.
We are so blessed with amazing youth, not just at RCC but in the greater Attleboro Area as well!
