I came across an adorable Christmas pageant on YouTube a few weeks before Christmas last year (watch it here – so adorable!). It is absolutely ADORABLE and I loved how all of the kids had glow sticks at the end. I showed it to Peg, our Church School Director. I told her that I didn’t care what we did, but that we HAD TO HAVE glow sticks for Joy To The World.
Because clearly glow sticks would make the whole story of Jesus’ birth more realistic.
She made it happen! And it was pure MAGIC. I wish I had taken a longer video, but you really just had to be there to truly experience it.
For me, a lot of the magic had to do with the service itself. The pageant went off without any confusion, the music was amazing and a glow-stick-illumined rendition of Joy To The World was just icing on the cake.
File this away for next year! It was so easy. Peg tied a note on the glow sticks that said we would break them together during Joy To The World and the greeters handed them out with the bulletins.
