This Little Light Of Mine {Children’s Choir Adorableness}

Did any of my other clergy friends crash yesterday?  I went into work in the morning to put together a funeral, but after that I went home and the only thing I managed to do all day was vacuum out my car.

I know.  Whoa.  Slow down, Sarah.

Anyway, let’s back up to the beginning of Holy Week and Palm Sunday.  I posted the sermon I preached and pictures of the altar, but I didn’t post one of the best parts of the morning … our Children’s Choir!  We put a Children’s Choir together at the beginning of the year and this was their second time singing in worship.

None of us have a ton of experience working with a choir this little (in age, not in numbers!) but we’ve gotten into a pretty good rhythm (pun intended).  Jordan runs the rehearsals and Kathy and I (Kathy sings in the choir and is on the Music Committee – she’s awesome!) corral the kids.  We have them listen to a recording of the song and then teach it to them line by line.  The kids who can read take music.

In between rehearsals, the kids have CDs that they listen to.  The parents have been AWESOME – they play the song in the car and at home.  The choir wouldn’t work if they didn’t sacrifice their sanity like this 🙂 We rehearse the three weeks before they sing after church and then again the Sunday they sing.

This has been a ton of fun and SUCH a blessing for all of us!  I can’t wait to see where this little program goes …
