Altar Design is something I am only starting to learn more about. My professors and friends in seminary had such a knack for creating a beautiful and meaningful space for worship – I aspire to do that in my own worship spaces!
I do not often create elaborate designs for Sunday morning worship. Our worship is fairly traditional and the last thing I want to do is introduce too much at once and distract people. But I do like to bring in different elements, especially for special services, to utilize more of our senses and create more meaning. I recently started taking photos of the setups so I can look back.
Take a look around – I hope you get some ideas!

URGENT! Need an idea for an altar scape for Transfiguration Sunday. Thanks in advance for a prompt response.
Hi Susan! I was just thinking about that myself, although we have memorial flowers this week, so I’d like to let those really shine. I found this photo on pinterest – https://www.pinterest.com/pin/124623114663761838/ – I love the imagery of the candles reflecting in the mirror and that would be really easy to replicate! Keep it simple with white candles and white fabric, but to give it some visual interest use different candle heights. Good luck!
